Dear Geoff,

THE DENEWAY PATCHAM

I am submitting the following letter under Council Procedure Rule 23.3 to be included on the agenda for the Environment, Transport & Sustainability Committee (ETS) meeting of 29th September 2020.

At the beginning of this year double yellow lines were introduced to east side of The Deneway. They have been successful in making this section of the road less dangerous especially at the junction with the A23.

Outside the veterinary hospital is a small roundabout that offers little in terms of transport infrastructure save for creating an area used for parking. It was hoped that sensible parking would prevail and we promised residents we would keep an eye on things.

Regretfully, the situation is deteriorating rather than improving by this roundabout. There are very few days now where vehicles are not parked on the pavement blocking it to pedestrians.

As a consequence, I respectfully ask that officers be requested to now extend the double yellow lines on the north side of The Deneway, around the roundabout and to the railway bridge. It would also be necessary to line around the roundabout itself. We would hope that this request could be added to a number of traffic regulation orders the council has in hand.

Many thanks and kind regards,

Cllr. Lee Wares
